This classic play, Antony and Cleopatra, written by the fantastic and legendary writer that is William Shakespeare depicts the love story, between two great leaders, Antony who is the Roman General and Cleopatra who is Egyptian queen. Their passion and love for one and other eventually leads to their tragic downfall and death. This play is categorised as a tragedy, however there are many themes set within this and indeed all of William Shakespeare's magnificent work, other themes include, ambition, power, friendship, deception, disaster and of course love.

Directed by Gregory Doran, he has created an excellent production, receiving reviews stating it was Clear, direct and pacey. A daunting task considering firstly it is a William Shakespeare play he has decided to take on but also one of the most challenging texts he created.
The wonderful Patrick Stewart stars in this production and he has received glowing reviews, with some reviews stating he was the best Antony since Michael Redgrave, who acted in this role half a century ago. This is an excellent achievement who has mastered the role of playing what has been described as Shakespeare's most difficult male roles.
